I guess my real question is will the retrode 2 let me have access to the actual ROM file? I'm traveling and don't want to have to carry the device around. My iphone is jailbroken and I have emulators for it.

Dont know if iphone can reconqize the retrode 2, but you can dump the rom from the cart and store it on the iphone with no need to take the retrode or carts with you everywhere. (be sure your cart is compat)

I couldn't get the iphone/ipod to read any usb devices. Though it runs perfect on the ipad though. I would just dump the roms and use a wii mote with classic controller to play your games. But its completely worth it though to buy the retrode to legally have backups of your games.

Basically it will be an smc for Super Nintendo and i think Megadrive is either .bin or .rom cannot remember but you can change the extension in the config file on the retrode.

So does Apple allow emulators now? Even if you somehow manage to hook up a Retrode, I'm afraid it won't be of much use without them...

He said that he's jailbroken it.

Thanks Muzer. I guess I should get some sleep rather than replying to threads I haven't read ;)

I suppose I can dump the ROM and transfer it to my iPhone via iFunBox. As long as I can get the rom file it should work. Just out of curiosity, it says, "Controllers must be connected to Retrode before USB connection is established." on the N64 plug in. Does that mean I will need a controller for it to work with that?

No, just that if you want to use a controller it needs to be plugged in before you plug the USB cable in.
