SNES controller B and Y button lag

I bought my retrode 2 awhile ago but haven't used it much until lately, I noticed that my B and Y button have some lag and you have to hold them down for a second to get them to register... All other buttons register instantly... I've tested on my windows and Linux PC and my Android tablet and the lag exists in all devices, even the light on the retrode shows this, I thought it may be a firmware issue so I updated to V0.18c today and still no  any help is greatly appreciated

Have you taken the gamepad apart and cleaned the contact points?

Second. SNES controllers tend to get sucky with increasing dirt layer. A good cleaning job can work wonders.
