Retrode no longer appears as USB device on any PC

Hi there,

I was having no problems with my retrode 2 until tonight. The retrode 2 no longer appears on any windows machine i've tried (There's no usb connected sound) Nothing shows up at all and there is no driver installation or anything showing up in device properties :(. Tried on 1 desktop and 2 laptops.

The controllers when plugged in still show a red LED light when pressing buttons however. Very confused! Someone please help me :(.

EDIT: I'd also like to mention I tried multiple USB cables as well. Nothing seems to make the retrode appear at all :'(

EDIT: Got the new one, works great! No issues at all.

Sorry to hear about your recent trouble with the Retrode. A hardware failure is not completely out of the possible, in which case we'd of course replace your device. First, though, I'd ask you to try one more thing: What happens if you set the Retrode to HWB mode while connected to a Windows machine? (keep HWB button pressed, press and release RESET button, release HWB button)
Does the device manager show something named LibUSB or AT90USB64 or similar? In that case, you may want to try a firmware update.

Hi Matthias,

Unfortunately not. I've only had the retrode for 3 days, I flashed the new firmware the day before it stopped working and all seemed to be working fine, and now nothing. Pressing the HWB / reset / release does not do anything anymore.

I have found that applying gentle pressure to the SNES edge connector the retrode picks up for 2 seconds then disconnects. Very odd. :( I might have to get you to replace it. Do I need to ship it back to you? I live in Australia.

I've actually done a fair bit of animation in the past, so I was thinking that if I get some time this weekend that I might make an animation for that
