There are two ways, although both will involve cannibalising a (not necessarily working) Game Gear for the cartridge connector:

* Buy the premade adaptor when it comes out. I believe this SHOULD (but it hasn't completely been decided as far as I can tell) have a space to solder a Game Gear connector when it is released, but unless a miracle occurs and Matthias_H finds a supplier, it won't come with the actual connector. You'll have to remove the connector from a real Game Gear (or some other system with a Game Gear connector, not that there are any that I can think of offhand), and solder it onto this adaptor.

* Build one from scratch. The technical information is here:

...That site also contains more info on this guy's actual design and build process (he was the one who made the design for the plug-in in the first place), so you may want to check the other posts on it if you choose this route. Once again, you'll need to cannibalise a GG for the connector.

Confirmed: the plug-in will have the solder space for a GG connector but will come without the connector. By the way, the Game Gear, out of all systems I have come across, has the nicest connector to unsolder. Long and flexible pins almost allow you to take them out one by one.

No definitive release date yet, though :-(

I no longer sell the Retrode. For sales inquiries, please contact our friends at DragonBox.

Oh, that sounds quite nice. I'll have to find a dead GG to take apart (couldn't bear to take apart a working one...) when the adaptor comes out!

ah the website you gave me is dead but yeah i have a not so dead but unplayable gg system willing to gut or mod system without destorying system completely.

The link's fine for me; try again now.

Yeah, the only option is removing the cartridge slot from a real Game Gear; the slot is a special type that nobody has used before or since as far as anyone can tell, so nobody sells them. eBay probably has some dead ones from which you can take the slot if you don't want to use your own.
