Title: N64 original controller?
Post by: HierVielleicht on 30/Jul/2013 10:33:04 PM
Hello,

I've a problem with using my original N64 controller with wxMupen64Plus ( wxMupen64PlusCombo_0.3_Setup.exe ) on Windows7 32-Bit. I have not looked into the original (mupen64plus-bundle-win32-2.0.zip) yet (because it lacks a GUI ).
ROM does load and play and there are 4 Retrode ( not 2 ?) controllers shown in the input config menu, but I don't know how to configure it properly. Before the game starts mupen states that input configuration failed. Is the left port on the N64 plugin 0 and the right one 1 ?
Is there a better emulator for windows out there? How can I use the Retrode with the original Mupen64Plus bundle - to play Golden Eye for example?

Thank you very much!

HierVielleicht

P.S. There's no sound either. Do I have to download an additional sound plugin ( which one )?

Do the Retrode controllers show up under Windows Control Panel / Game Controllers? If so, a dedicated emulator forum might help you better. Maybe other emulators also offer better controller support (Project64??)

Hello Matthias,

thank you very much for your reply!
I finally found a way myself ( zillions of Google hits for Ouya but not a single one for using the 'retrode' controllers ...). No useable info on the Mupen and Project64 forums either ... :
Project64 + Jabo's Direct Input 1.7.0.12 (included in Project64 2.1.0.1) - the N-Rage plugin mentioned elsewhere on this forum did not work for me.
Choose Options -> Settings -> Plugins and set the Input plugin.
Choose Options -> Configure Controller plugin -> Game Device: Retrode (controller is plugged into the adapter's left port ). Edit the keys by clicking the square button on the right side of the keys and pressing the correct button on the controller.
(On Windows 7 you have to add file permissions for editing the configuration it seems.)

Cheers,

HierVielleicht
