Hello,
Sorry if this question has already been answered. I was wondering if it is possible to use retrode to transfer save data back to the NES cartridge? I am planning on installing new batteries inside my cartridges and I was hoping on using retrode to transfer my save data to my pc and then once I have installed a new battery, I wanted to transfer the save data back to the NES cartridge. Is any of this possible?
Thanks.
In case you mean SNES, then yes, that is possible. In certain OS constellations, it may be necessary to use the command line to copy the file over. See this link for more info. (http://www.retrode.org/documentation/troubleshooting/troubleshooting-saving-files-to-the-retrode-does-not-work/)
Hello Matthias,
thank you very much for your kind reply. Before I leave this thread, I might as well ask you one more question. Is the same thing possible with N64 cartridges and Regular Gameboy cartridges? Or can you only transfer save data to computer with those cartridges? i have read a few threads that seem to confirm that N64 and Gameboy cartridges are only able to be read by the Retrode, I just wanted to confirm if this is true.
Thanks
N64 saves are currently not supported at all (Memory Pak under development by Wannado); writing of GB saves is implemented but still in pre-alpha stage (not tested on real cartridges yet).
Sounds great, so if I buy the retrode 2 right now, will I be able to use the n64 memory pack when it is fully ready? Or does it require me to buy a new retrode? I am just wondering if I should wait to buy one when the n64 memory pack comes out, or is it okay to buy one now and still be bale to use the memory pack in the future. Thanks very much and sorry for all the questions!
All the new features will be made available via firmware updates. No need to buy new hardware.
Thank you very much for all of your help! I really appreciate it!
