Title: Spiritual Warfare GB
Post by: Joxer_the_Mighty on 17/Jan/2017 01:52:02 PM
Spiritual Warfare is an unlicensed game published by Wisdom Tree for the GB (they also made it for the NES & PC). I'm attempting to dump the ROM with the GB adapter sold by Dragon Box, but have not had any luck so far. When I plug the Retrode into my computer with the adapter & game inserted, it acts like there is no game at all. I'm just curious if anyone has run into this before. I've successfully dumped my other gameboy games, just not this one.

Unofficial games likely don't obey the official cart specifications, so you'd probably need a custom Retrode firmware to work around whatever hacky tricks the cart is using.

A similar issue has been discussed a while ago: http://forum.retrode.org/index.php/topic,308.msg2043.html#msg2043

Anyway, I agree with Aleron Ives. The game is probably trying to trick the GB (to pass the boot logo check), and the Retrode isn't doing what the game expects a GB to do.

We might try to imitate the GB's behavior of reading the logo twice, shortly after power-up. If somebody happens to find time for that...
