So apparently the Retron guys released an adapter for the Retron 5 that plugs into the Genesis slot and allows the playing of SMS and GG carts, and also SMS cards. I realize that we already have an SMS adapter, but might it be a relatively easy task to update the Retrode firmware to recognize this adapter and allow the reading of GG carts and SMS cards as well? Just a thought...

We would need to see the PCB to check the traces, but it would make sense if it was wired the same as the Retrode SMS/GG adapter.
Who's going to buy one and open it up?
Even if it's not wired the same way, couldn't the firmware be updated to recognize the new wiring?

The master system plugin already has the holes on it for a game gear connector you simply need to solder it on for anyone who wanted to know.
If we solder the game gear slot onto the Master System adapter would we need to modify the shell you provided? Or would you recommend just taking shell off?

you can either cut a hole in the shell for it or you can leave the shell off, the other option is to buy a replacement megadrive (genesis) cartridge or a dirt cheap game and use that case to cut up so you can still keep the original case.
im waiting for a broken game gear i ordered to come and i will remove the connector and add it to my master system plugin and post a pic once its done.

the Sega Card to Master System is my own creation ive also designed others but havent had them made yet.
Nice job! I just got my Game Gear and Sega Card connectors in the mail. I'm going to solder the GG connector onto my SMS board today. Unfortunately, I still don't have a Game Gear game to test it.

Got everything soldered in and it works great! Did you use a dremel to modify the casing?

yes for the most part and then just some wire cutters to cut off small bits just to level it out.
i would have filed it down but i dont have any files anymore and i ran out of sand paper but i didnt worry too much about it since i was covering it anyway.
