ALCON,
Setup= Retrode2 + .023e BETA FW
My Starflight (Sega Genesis) cart is missing the RAM file, but can get the a ROM file with the Retrode2.
My other Sega Genesis carts read both RAM and ROM files just fine. (Sonic 3)
The Cart read fine on my actual hardware. It can still save games :)
I have a feeling it has a special RAM type. EEPROM? SRAM? FLASH?
BTW Starflight is an EA game with a yellow tab. (does the yellow tab do something or just cosmetic?)
I'm hoping skaman or this community could add support for this or be able to troubleshoot.
This is not critical, but it would awesome if it was fixed. if I could have my old STARFLIGHT save again.
When I loaded the cart on actual hardware, there were two saved games called "Jeff" uhh... where's my old save? LOL
There was a very old post about this that was 4 years ago. I hate necro-posting.
If I am allowed to upload the ROM file, Please let me know.
Please advise. Thanks.
Starflight uses SRAM but the ROM header lacks the SRAM data. Because the SRAM start and end data is missing, the Retrode firmware assumes that there is no save game.
I'm not sure how many games have this problem. I'll have to go through the save cart list and check each ROM.
I'll try to fix this in a firmware update sometime.
Fixed the Starflight SRAM identification. I also added identification for a bunch of other SRAM games that were missing the SRAM data in the header.
The fix will be rolled into the next v0.24 BETA whenever it gets released to the test group.
Can't wait for that next .24 FW release. 8)
Just for confirmation:
FW .24a-beta will not read the RAM file for Starflight, only the ROM file.
That's ok though. You said the next FW .24 release should.
ALCON,
Setup= Retrode2 + .024b BETA FW
Game= Starflight (Genesis)
The new Retrode2 .24b BETA FW solved the problem.
I can now see the RAM and ROM file for starflight.
I was able to load it in my emulator as well. :)
EPIC Thank you and Kudos to skaman!!
