Title: Preorder question
Post by: newbie2 on 06/Sep/2012 03:20:23 AM
I'd like to order the GB plugin, but may also decide in a few weeks that I want the N64 adapter too. If I order the gameboy plugin can I change my order later (before it ships in Dec.) and just pay the additional cost of the N64 adapter? Or would I need to place a separate order and pay shipping again?

Hi,

Upgrading a pending order is no problem. Just let me know, and I'll invoice you the difference amount...

Cheers,
Matthias

Now that you mention it, OP.

Is that 'December 31' date for availability  is like a date you slapped there because you don't have a date yet or is it really this one?

I'm saying this because each time I pre-order something that doesn't have a release date yet it have this same date. :)

Thanks!

It's a conservative guess. Manufacturing and distribution are spread across the entire globe, so the later the estimate, the more likely it is to work out. I could have said "end of October" (as they do on Kickstarter), but I know that it is absolutely unrealistic.

Well my pre-order and payment is in for the gb plugin. I'll probably add the N64 one later on in October, but it's good to space these things out.

Related question:

The most recent newsletter mentioned that you're working on runs of a few other (non-shelled) plugin types.
Will these be available soon enough to combine shipping, or not until after the current preorders ship?

Not so sure about the TG16/NGP one, but the A2600 should be available soon enough to combine orders.

Two notes to those not subscribed to the newsletter:
(1) You should really, really subscribe to the newsletter (http://www.retrode.org/about/newsletter/). :)
(2) We are planning to run another two, more "experimental", plug-in batches: Atari 2600 (with cartridge connector) and TG16/NGP (bare PCB; user provides connectors). Both will come without, and will not be compatible to, cartridge shells.
