GB & GBC carts don't fit physically

I just got the Gameboy plug in and I can only fit GBA carts into the slot, both GB and GBC carts are too wide to fit into the slot. I can slide the same GB and GBC carts into my GBA without any issue, but without filing down my new adapter, there's no way that the cart is going to fit.

Is this a new problem where sending mine back in for an exchange is likely to solve the problem or am I going to be stuck filing down the sides of the adapter to get the carts to fit in?

Never mind, I figured it out, for some reason it's wrong to try and stick it in from the top, sliding it in from the side and then down onto the pins works just fine.

I really have no idea why that works or why that was necessary, but if anybody has similar issues that might be the case.

Those are regular cartridge shells with the slot CNC'ed out (they're not easy to clamp, hence some tolerances and deviations between units). Feel free to file it down to fit if you like.
