F-Zero Breaking Firmware

I recently got a Retrode, and dumped all my games and saves. The only game that didn't work that should have was F-Zero. When I put it in, the ROM and SRAM don't show up, and when I put a different SNES game in, it doesn't show up. In addition, the OS X tool no longer works afterwards, so I have to reflash the firmware manually in terminal. I have cleaned the cartridge with Q-Tips and alcohol, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

First of all, I hope you have your Retrode working again (maybe after reboot), or was it damaged permanently? As for F-Zero, I've never heard about such problems. Can you confirm 100% that it is a genuine product, or could it be counterfeit?

It seemed to not work at all, so I had to reflash the firmware in Terminal (may have been overkill).
I just put it in again without the case on, and it worked for the first time out of about 10 tries. I put the case on, and it didn't work. I tried many times with and without the case, and it seems that the case is preventing it from reading somehow. I even tried it with another game case on, and it still didn't work. But it worked consistently without any case, even the SRAM. I'm totally clueless now.

Edit: Also, it seems on par with Google Images results, the other game, and this thread for being an official cartridge. I'm not sure why anyone would want to bootleg F-Zero anyway.

Just to avoid confusion: You're talking about the Retrode case now, right? (Not that that would make the matter any less confusing)

No, I'm talking about the game shell. When I put the bare board in the Retrode, it works fine. But with any cartridge shell on, it doesn't mount.
