Hi,

First of all, I apologize for my bad english (I'm french) :)

Then, Thanks for you good job, my Retrode2 works perfectly well.

But I have a issues with a game :

It's an American version (Code : M/SNS-USA/CAN-1) and when I plug this SNES game on the Retrode2, two files appear.

- RETRODE.CFG : Logic
- Ataliri2600Cartridge.a26 (4kB)

I flashed in 0.17c version but no change :(

Did you have an idea ?

Thanks :)

Ness and Sonic

Super Mario RPG has a lockout chip, so it won't work with the retrode until a way to deal with the problem is found. My guess is the retrode can detect something is there, but can't get anywhere near a full scan on it and jumps to the conclusion that it's a 2600 game.
Some times modern video game characters chase older ones. Some times older video game characters just say the wrong thing.

Exactly. There's something in the slot, but the detection routine can't find a name/title since the ROM is not accessible due to SA-1 lockout. So it defaults to Atari 2600.

Hi,

Thanks for your time :)

What is " lockout chip" ?

I have an other game US : Mega Man's Soccer (Code : SNS-RQ-USA) and it works.

The SA-1 chip on SMRPG exchanges a secret initialization sequence (a copy protection measure) with the console before it unlocks access to the game ROM. The Retrode does not perform this sequence, (1) because it is hella tricky and requires additional hardware not present in the device, and (2) because it might be deemed illegal in some legislations to circumvent the protection mechanism.
