Saving State and Saving on Cartridge

Hello guys, i have one doubt about saving... Can i save all games on the cartridge itself (except the ones that has password, off course) and then continue playing on the console, or there's a compatibility list?

If the Retrode can read the savegame, and the emulator loads the savegame and updates the savegame, it will work on a console.  SNES works really well.
